This book was so much fun to read! It was crazy and full of action and way better than I had expected it to be. I was fully immersed into the world of Casters. The way the action sequences were described was with such detail that my imagination was able to completely visualize the electrifyingly beautiful magic unfolding in each scene. I love the world that was created in this book.
At first I was rather skeptical. The first chapter and a half were very teen-drama and did not wow me at all. The classrooms and lunchrooms, etc. made me feel like I was reading a typical YA book and, having been out of high school for 10 years, this sort of talk often alienates older readers. Eventually the story began to pick up pace and it got more interesting.
The characters Ethan and Lena are typical enough. I was refreshed to be reading through the eyes of the boy, for once. I feel like the reader escapes the teen-girl-drama a little more this way. Lena was emotional and nutty but with the story, she actually has a reason to be this way. I can’t wait to read book 2, 3, and so on. This is another series from the guilty pleasure-YA genre that has completely captivated me.
12/8/13 update: Movie was really boring for some reason… and book 2, so far, really stinks. Dissapointed.
