Review: Finale (Hush, Hush #4)

Finale
Finale by Becca Fitzpatrick
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

5/28/13: Gawd that book took forever to get through… It was so bad in comparison to my memory of the last 3 books. I don’t know if I just grew out of the story, or if it was really just this book but either way, Cheese-its, it was hard to read. The story contained many misleading directions that pissed me off. One example was when the feathers were burning & Nora kept saying she was believing the lie in front of her… as if what was really happening was she was being mind tricked… when the word “lie” was not actually meant to mean anything. That is just bad writing. That is only one of many such blunders in this book. I’m not going to even sit here & try to explain all the reasons why, so allow me to sum it up for you:

1.There were misdirections in the way it was written, not the good kind. It felt like she was trying to be coy with the story but only it just kept a simple plot line confusing.

2.There were way more annoying parts than good ones.

3.The stuff with devilcraft was interesting but way too complicated for a new notion and felt really rushed in this book.

4.The sudden happy ending wasn’t a surprise, but the wrap up was really rushed. 30mins before the ending, I was still reading about the main battle where nothing was explained. Then suddenly, all was explained (badly) and everything was over…

5.This is a direct quote from the book:

“You’re a strong girl, and you’re mine. But strength doesn’t always mean brute force. You don’t have to kick ass to be a fighter. Violence doesn’t equal strength. Lead your army by example. There’s a better answer to all this. War isn’t going to solve anything, but it will tear our two worlds apart, and there will be casualties, including humans. There’s nothing heroic about this war. It will lead to a destruction unlike anything you or I have ever seen”

Way too many cliches in one place!!! Very poor writing. It made my brain hurt.

There is more, but I am already tired of listing. I had quit reading this book at 68%. I am only sort-of glad that I finished it, mostly because I wanted it off of my list. Below are my other entries…

•4/29/13: I added this book back to my Currently Reading shelf but I’m in no hurry. I will finish it. I will get closure to this series. But I’m not making it a priority. Below is my original Review on this book when I quit reading it in February.

•2/6/13: I quit. I gave up. This book bored the crap out of me. I liked the last one, and the ones before were fine… maybe I just out grew the series.. maybe this one just sucks, oh well. Maybe one day I will finish this book, but that won’t be any day soon.

•11/4/12: Began reading this book….
